On the cover, we get a glimpse of what looks to be enough fruit to last you for a week. Grapes, bananas, oranges, grapefruits, kiwifruit, pomegranate, lemons, peaches, apples, pineapples (?) and what may or may not be cactus – save for the grapefruit, that’d make a mighty fine fruit salad or smoothie. It’s a sweet picture (literally and figuratively) full of life, but SPR’s EP1… not so much. As soon as you sit down, you indiscriminately jab your fork in to that decadent fruit salad, and as you bring said fork close to your barren mouth… SPR grabs your arm, swats the ceramic bowl with all the fruit off the table, and makes you stare at the lone green grape you got off that first stab in to the salad. EP1 is saturated with despair and dread you’d find in a misery-filled neo-noir – all the while, this cover looks like it should be on something to do with Eat, Pray, Love or Under the Tuscan Sun. Listen to EP1 via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
