I can, without a doubt, say that this is one of the darkest and most misery-inducing albums I’ve ever come across. I thought I knew what anger, hopelessness and pain sounded like until I heard this.¬†The very first voice you hear is a scream that’s capable of ripping your throat to shreds if you attempted it yourself… and it keeps screaming out in to the deep abyss these synthesizers create. You can’t help but feel like you got in a small¬†submarine¬†and the¬†descent just doesn’t let up. You go deeper and deeper in to the blackness of the ocean, wondering when the pressure will begin to crush your submersible; the last thing you see would be total darkness after the lights all go out from the pressure. The screams let up only to be replaced with the waves of chasm-esque drones that ring out. Sounds like a fun time doesn’t it? Listen to side A of¬†All Men Are Prey to the Same Beast below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
Mass (UK) and Rvnes (GER) join forces on this flawless collaborative album that is a cold and sharp exploration of new territories of drone, doom and harsh noise. Two complementary tracks reflecting on humanity, faith, despair and horror. A bottomless pit. A fever dream. A new sonic frontier of unrelenting anguish and crucial existentialism.
