Here in Austin, we’ve had a significant amount of rain this month. Â As in, it’s rained every day…every damn day…for a month. Â It could be the end times, it could just be some abnormal weather…whichever it is, my intake of ambient music has increased tenfold. Â Rain is the perfect accompaniment to sweeping, swooning atmospheric music, and today’s choice has been German composer Herbstlaub. Â The Belgian ambient artist known as Federleicht has his hands in many different cookie jars musically, and Herbstlaub is a project dedicated to sublime, delicate ambience.
He gives great attention to space in his compositions, but it never drags. Â Angelic voices, twinkling keyboards and strings carry each track seamlessly to the next. Â Each copy of the vinyl comes numbered out of 100 and will also have a photograph of the album artwork inside.
Close your eyes and have a listen.
