Here in Austin, we’ve had a significant amount of rain this month.  As in, it’s rained every day…every damn day…for a month.  It could be the end times, it could just be some abnormal weather…whichever it is, my intake of ambient music has increased tenfold.  Rain is the perfect accompaniment to sweeping, swooning atmospheric music, and today’s choice has been German composer Herbstlaub.  The Belgian ambient artist known as Federleicht has his hands in many different cookie jars musically, and Herbstlaub is a project dedicated to sublime, delicate ambience.

He gives great attention to space in his compositions, but it never drags.  Angelic voices, twinkling keyboards and strings carry each track seamlessly to the next.  Each copy of the vinyl comes numbered out of 100 and will also have a photograph of the album artwork inside.

Close your eyes and have a listen.
