RIYL: Nikki Lane, Lillie Mae, Kacey Musgraves, Sturgill Simpson
Label: Loma Vista
Third Man’s shining star and Nashville’s stoned outlaw Margo Price has readied another 10 track full-length titled That’s How Rumors Get Started, her third album since she debuted in 2016. This time around, she’s releasing these new tunes with Loma Vista Recordings, a surprising choice considering how connected she was with Jack White’s Third Man family. And the switch isn’t coming without some changes. Her first two albums with TMR were a bit more stripped-down country affairs, but Rumors is being describes as a studio-heavy “countrypolitan” sound. Produced by Sturgill Simpson, it’s safe to say we’ll be hearing a hybrid of rock, soul and country inspirations from Bonnie Raitt to Fleetwood Mac to Drive-By Truckers.
Most likely, you already know about the indie-exclusive variant on gold wax, but if not, most online distros and local vinyl shops will be carrying that one. This week, though, Vinyl Me, Please came out with a much rarer version on pink vinyl limited to just 500 copies. Just guessing here, but knowing Third Man’s big collector pool and Margo’s growing fanbase, I’d say this one will sell out quicker than you think. Check out some of the available tracks and videos below and grab a pink copy after the ‘buy’ link.
