RIYL: Dirty Beaches

Label: Fort Evil Fruit

Alright… well, our adventures in the valley of Fort Evil Fruit have about come to a close for now as they’ve almost run out of cassettes for me to write about for the time being. However, I imagine they’ll have plenty more to come in the ensuing months and years. Rastrejo’s Fractura de Miramientos is basically Dirty Beaches Spanish cousin. Rastrejo utilizes lo-fi as another instrument in his array, and not simply as an effect that happens to be there. Many lo-fi acts I’ve come across just use it as a cheap (quite literally) gimmick. Rastrejo teleports you to a balmy neighborhood, and, for me, the neighborhood happens to be in Cancún’s zona residenciál in Quintana Roo. Many white and yellow plastic store signs hollowed out in the middle to fit the lights hovering over the locals loafing about, some who may be slinging the cuisine of their choosing. What I’m trying to say is that this is a summer album. Listen to Fractura de Miramientos below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
