RIYL: dystopian free jazz
Label: Cruel Nature Records
Piotr Cisak and Petar Stipsits recorded this in one go, on February 9th this year. Phonetics Of The Unspeakable is a roughly thirty-seven minute long improv set, consisting of a cello (I would have been none the wiser had they not made note of that, and you as well), drums, and enough effects to make said cello sound like a rugged guitar grinding on the ground complete with sparks skipping along the jagged pavement. The sub-bass present with the bow against the cello’s strings undulates like a snake all alone in the desert as Stipsits percussion just goes along with the chaos. It’s almost as if Stipsits is soundtracking Iñárritu’s Birdman if Riggan Thomson decided to go in to an endlessly spiraling vantablack chasm with his alter-ego. Phonetics Of The Unspeakable is a free jazz project for the dystopian age. Listen to Phonetics Of The Unspeakable below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
