RIYL: being creepy
Label: Spring Break Tapes
Spring Break Tapes has got another one hot off the presses just for you. You all went crazy for the mystery tapes I wrote up last time, and by crazy I mean you helped deplete their stock. As you’ll notice, with the rest of their tapes, you can count on one hand how many are still available for the taking – it’s a field of red “SOLD OUT” squares beyond that. One could say Spring Break Tapes has a loyal cult following, and you could also say their talent acquisition deserves high remarks. They’ve got Junior Pande (Justin Peroff), Bugseed, The Movies and more. Now, on top of all that, they’ve secured this improv session involving Roger Tellier-Craig (formerly of Fly Pan Am and Godspeed You! Black Emperor), Karl Fousek, and Devon Hansen.  They’ve only got a six-minute preview for our listening pleasure at the moment, but it sounds like what’d you hear on the deck of a UFO. Listen to the preview by clicking the Buy Now button below and see what you think of it. Cheers!
Recorded live in two improvised sessions ahead of their first performance in Montreal’s experimental underground, No Sound Without A Misunderstanding documents the earliest encounters between veteran Roger Tellier-Craig (Le Révélateur, Fly Pan Am) and relative newcomers Devon Hansen (D.Hansen, Stefan Jós) and Karl Fousek.
Analog FM synthesis, processed percussion samples, sub-bass pulses and ring-modulated textures coalesce over detailed drones and washes of noisy DSP, as the trio begin to articulate a shared and hybrid approach to live electronics.
