RIYL: Windy & Carl, Valet

Label: 2020 Records

I wrote about Dave Heumann’s Here In The Deep last year, which, if you were around/remember, was a rootsy folk affair. Heumann’s latest effort, Cloud Hands, consists of two lightly psychedelic guitar improv sessions broaching in to Windy & Carl territory (even Valet’s & White Rainbow’s), especially on the opening track “Substantial/Insubstantial.” Cloud Hands is fit for playing in your nearest ashram. Cloud Hands couldn’t be further from Here In The Deep in an aesthetic sense – it feels as if you’re listening to an entirely different artist. Cloud Hands feels more fit for the likes of KrankyCloud Hands lives up to its name in how it moves around in its space with no inertia able to work against it. It never ceases to amaze me how there are people out there who can churn things out like this in the matter of two days, essentially. Listen to Cloud Hands below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
