I don’t know about you, but I instantly jump to thinking about Weyland-Yutani when I see this band name. I only saw Alien last year, so perhaps it’s a bit fresher in my head for the association. Yutani exhibits the same qualities as Alien. The cover looks like a mix of blood and oil, suspended wistfully. The sharpness of the layers and the duly solid/ethereal waves make it seem like an extreme close-up of the inside of a vein. Yutani, like Alien, lives on the wall in a way. There’s a lot of silence, which only gives way to your imagination wanting to have tension in its place. The synth drones hover between being soothing and terrifying, depending on how you view them… I suppose this especially lies in the ears of the beholder… This goes without saying, but this is more for dark ambient fans. Think of the ship’s whirr in Alien getting some life injected in to it, and you get this. Listen to Yutani below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
