RIYL: resting in piss
Label: Spare No Expanse
The Hell Realm at first sight looks like a strict, no fuss, dark ambient album, but within the lean-drenched muck you’ll find diamond specks and Jolly Ranchers. It’s clear that The Celestial Body doesn’t take themselves seriously, with track names like “Eroge God” (“Eroge,” for the uninitiated, refers to erotically charged visual novels) and “Rest In Piss.” This flirts with the kitschyness of weebdom and the trappings of trap music with glimmering synth patch choices and hearty kick drums that’ll shake your rear-view downward in no time. “Eroge God” is the most atypical track of the bunch, where it feels as if it could take off to full-on post-rock with its morose, reverbed guitar riffs if it wanted to. “Rest In Piss” could be considered the most “subdued” track if you will, with large sequences devoted to white noise/rain. If you’re looking for something oddly cheerful, you’ve come to the right place. Listen to the Bandcamp stream of The Hell Realm below and see what you think of it. Cheers!
