RIYL: [adult swim], Ghostly

SEAGRAVE just put out another release today and, of course, it’s unsurprisingly solid from the sound of it thus far. At press time, there are three tracks available for preview – “Queer Nation,” “It Should Be You,” and “Taxi Radio.” “Queer Nation” is like Feel Good Lost-era Social Scene taking on house production with its aquatic and hospitable atmosphere, with the sample sources being in that vein as well. “It Should Be You” mixes elements of old house, with its soulful vocal samples, and outsider house (think Actress) and it sounds primed to be on a Hyperdub compilation with Kode9 and Kyle Hall in the ranks. “Taxi Radio,” the album’s closer, is a fuzzed out glitchy blanket flirting with hip-hop and techno. “Taxi Radio” is truly hard to describe, and I can’t help but feel like a broken record when I say this is reminiscent of Kode9. Listen to the tracks below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
