RIYL: acid techno

Label: Always Human Tapes

I think it’s safe to say the 80s are very much in vogue. It’s not farfetched to say that Stranger Things is helping it along, but the 80s nostalgic zeitgeist has been rising up steadily before Stranger Things released to its exuberant fanfare. Daigoro (at least from what I can tell from the two tracks available for listening at the moment) blends the worlds of early 90s acid techno and cheesy 80s synths evoking light comparisons to Umberto, TR/ST, Cold Cave and Aphex Twin when he was heavier in to acid. This feels ripe for a video game soundtrack, and I don’t mean that as an insult. There’s a sense of urgency befitting boss battles and I can’t help but think of RPGs when I look at the cover in totality. The icons above the head remind me of type signifiers and the orange bar looks like a health bar to me. Listen to the two tracks available at the moment below and see what you think of it. Cheers!
