When you think of the word “primeval,” you think of simplicity and a return to the basics. Primeval Guilt can be thought of as a sophisticated reduction. “Stain,” the EP’s opening track, embodies the lascivious driving pulse of many a Chicago house track with its swinging, hearty, bassline, seductive vocal work and ping ponging drum line. However, “Stain” is the antagonist to your average Chicago house track in so much as it can be thought of as the heroin to Chicago house’s cocaine. “Sin,” “Primordial Clave,” and the remixes tagged on at the end are more or less club ready, too. “Vault” and “Bracelet” veer very much towards the leftfield with their foreboding, droning soundscapes with the former being a rise up from the dark depths of a godforsaken lake and the latter being the fall of a feather fresh after an eruption. Listen to the Bandcamp player below and see what you think of Primeval Guilt. Cheers!
A necklace of seven leftfield landscapes, oscillating between frustrated techno and dawning ambience. Arranged by a singer and a producer using the tools of our current epoch. Metaphorically it stands for an immolation offered to the spectral freedom of nature, in the hope of observing its apparition, once more.
