RIYL: the bass
Label: 10.34
Birdy Earns his keep on Nachtangst and my attention, and probably a good amount of play time while I’m at grinding away at work. I got a bit excited this morning when I saw that SEAGRAVE had dropped yet another cassette. Time and time again, SEAGRAVE releases deliver on slick production and compositions that keep you on your toes. Love them or hate them, you certainly can’t predict the trajectory of a SEAGRAVE tape. Nachtangst, from the few tracks we can preview, are twinkling affairs that, especially when sugared, spare the saccharine. Nachtangst reminds me of a mix between the even-tempered nature of KILN and the hopefulness imbued in early Aphex Twin, with some Khonnor or Her Space Holiday thrown in for good measure. If you want a break from the fuzzy, disjointed, electronic I’ve been writing up as of late, give Birdy Earns a chance. Listen to a preview of some of the tracks below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
