Travelogue sources all its sounds from a bus commute, from Pennsylvania to New York. I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume this is from Philly to New York City, especially considering you hear a classic New York subway breaking on arrival and then taking off again. I haven’t been on the train in a couple of months, considering I don’t live in NYC anymore, but I’ll never forget that sound. Travelogue takes me right back to the scene you can find in almost any subway. The R’s a popular line and one I was on frequently going from Brooklyn to Manhattan, or wherever. I can practically see the busker basking in mediocrity as they play the erhu (or whatever is). The smell of urine that would unfortunately find itself in the subway stations – that’s coming back to me too. Travelogue is unique in so far as you can start it at any time you please. If you want a peak at the American Northeast, this isn’t a bad option. Listen to the first side of Travelogue below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
Travelogue documents a long distance relationship. The bus commute back and forth from PA to NY is warped into a blur of field recordings and ambient manipulations. There is no beginning or end to the tape. Listen in anywhere. By Chaperone
