RIYL: The Kevin Costner Suicide Pact
Just like with SEAGRAVE and Magical Garage Taste, I’m going to ride out the Celldeath train for as long as possible. Sun Through Eyelids sounds like the name of shoegaze band, and Oceans of Separation just sounds like a shoegaze album title (if not a band name in its own right). This droning release has that “wall of sound” aspect in common with archetypal gazer fare, but in comparison it’s subdued and rather gloomy in comparison to its distant shoegaze relatives. Unfortunately, the player isn’t entirely loading for me so I’m having to go solely off the first track “Living Shdows” [sic]. I’m reminded of The Kevin Costner Suicide Pact as an unknown object crackles and rolls around amidst a whisping, weary reverbed guitar slowly traipses through the dense fog. The baby blue coloration betrays what this album is. Expect to go through that waterfall on that ship, and not just watch one in a sunny jungle. Listen to the Bandcamp stream of Oceans of Separation below and see what you think of it. Cheers!
