Label: Grey Matter Productions
The stereotypical picture of a little boy that comes to your head is probably one of perpetual glee and endless curiosity – a smile adorning the face almost as if it was surgically applied like a botox injection.¬†Grey Matter Productions, a self-proclaimed California-based DIY label, in their one sentence synopsis touts Olm’s¬†Little Boy as an “aural representation of the artist’s childhood.”¬†Little Boy is in short supply of that stereotypical elation I mentioned earlier.¬†Little Boy sounds better fit to play at a funeral ceremony than, say, this child frolicking through the fields with his parents.¬†Little Boy clocks in at just over thirty minutes, but the nature of its droning compositions make time elapse at a snail’s pace – ten minutes will feel like twenty, and so on.¬†Little Boy is dejected, and post-apocalyptic – not optimistic, and filled to the brim with vivacity. If you like any glimmer of hope stomped out in your music, you’ve come to the right place. Listen to¬†Little Boy below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
