RIYL: Charalambides, Tamaryn

Label: Magical Garage Taste

As we make our way out of the Fort Evil Fruit valley for a while, let’s check in to Magical Garage Taste and see how they’re doing. Magical Garage Taste is a welcome breath of fresh air after being in the proverbial valley of the shadow of death, as their catalogue often lends itself to being ethereal and honeyed. Effed’s But for This is a mix between K.C. Accidental, Tamaryn, and Belong. But for This envisions a gargantuan forest, with all the flora covered in dew. On top of this, there’s a blanket of fog that glides along the dirty forest floor with wisps of mist rising forth from it. “Fresco,” the album’s opening track, is rather jarring, immediately sweeping you away from your surroundings in to its water-drenched world. Like any good fresco, it serves to hypnotize and gets you in the mood to hear the rest of the EP. Once you make it to the other side, “Dandelion Leaf” and the rest await. Listen to But for This below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
