RIYL: enigmas

Label: Never Anything Records

Bret Schneider’s got a double album for you, courtesy of Portland label Never Anything RecordsMelancholia I & II saunters between your ears erratically and digs in to the creases that cover your brain. You’ll notice that none of these tracks have a proper title – just “Untitled” with an hour, minute and second place. Each of these have oddly exact times, so perhaps these came from one long improv session and the times that mark each name denote the genesis of each track. Melancholia I & II is on par with a feature-length film in its running time (over ninety minutes), so for $7.50 you’re getting a great deal. Melancholia I & II is to give your living space the ambiance of dread and rumination. Have this playing when you want to incite a sense of danger if you’re feeling too comfortable. Listen to Melancholia I & II  below via the Bandcamp stream and see what you think of it. Cheers!
